Cheryl Agius, who was previously the head of the UK strategic pension risk transfer team, has been appointed as CEO of General Insurance, according to a December 9 statement.
Agius joined L&G in 2011 and three years later established the US pension risk transfer business, building the firm’s in-house pension administration capabilities. In her most recent role she played a major part in the firm’s record £9.6 billion of annuity sales in the year to date, the statement said.
The General Insurance business at L&G has 1.2 million customers and specialises in providing buildings, contents, travel and pet insurance.
Prior to L&G, Agius worked at Towers Watson, Lloyds TSB and Aon Hewitt.
